What To Do Before You Become a Cell Phone Dealer

You can make a good
commission if you start up your
own mobile phone dealership.
The way to do this is to work
through a variety of cell
carriers, Verizon being an
example. As a dealer you can
sell phones as well as their
accessories to different
individuals as well as to
businesses. You can make
money from the sale of the
phones and accessories and
then the commission would
come from whatever carrier
you sell them. Since you don't
have to deal with just one
provider there is the possibility
of making some good money
setting up a business like this.
Before you get started in this,
it's a good idea to do some
research on the carriers that
you are interested in working
for. Not every carrier offers the
same thing and not all carriers
have the same requirements
for dealers. Some only let their
dealers work in a certain area
and some will also require that
you register as an independent
business. So you need to know
this before you start up.
It's probably a good idea to
register yourself as a business
no matter what the
requirements are of the
carrier, that way you don't
have to worry about it. You
can do this by getting in touch
with your county clerk office.
You can get a DBA which is
known as a Doing Business As.
If you think you are going to
need employees then you will
need to get an EIN or
Employee Identification
Number as well.
You should then consider
opening up a business
checking account at your
bank. It's better to keep the
money you earn from your
dealership separate from your
personal checking or savings
accounts.
After all of this initial work is
done you can go ahead and
apply for dealership at the
different cell providers that you
are interested in working for.
You can go to each of their
websites and they all should
have a place where you can
access their dealer applications
online. You will probably have
to submit a resume and some
business references as well in
order to be considered.
If you are accepted, you will
then receive three different
forms that they will expect you
to fill out so make sure that
you fill all three of them out
completely. These forms are
important so make sure they
are done correctly and sent
back in on time so not to slow
down your process of opening
up business.
You may not even have to
have a separate place to open
up shop, if you want,
especially when you first start,
can work out of your home.
However, if you want to work
in a more retail oriented
atmosphere you should be able
to find some small space
somewhere to lease or rent
where you can set up shop.
This way you will have room to
display different phones and
accessories that you sell as
well.
You will need to get a hold of
some wholesalers so that you
can purchase phones and
accessories at a wholesale
price so that you will be able
to make a profit from the sale
of these products. You will
probably have to pay up front
the first couple of times, but as
they get to know you, you will
probably get to be billed for
products on a regular basis.
